Fall. . .this is the season that we experience the time change, and with it, some people find that their sleeping patterns are thrown a little out of whack. We’d love to be able to help out with that!

Hops have been used for ages as a calmative and sedative, helping even the toughest cases of insomnia out there. It calms the nerves and helps to relax, in the best way that can be done on top of being a non-narcotic. No hang-over type feelings in the morning that many prescription sleeping pill users often experience. And it is not addicting.

Hops has the tendency to be a little bitter, so our favorite way to ingest it is in tincture form. Below is a simple Hops Tincture recipe:

Hops Tincture

Fill a jar of your choice (with a lid) with dry Hops (as full as you can get it, while still allowing room for the liquid to follow). Next, take vodka and fill the jar almost all the way to the top, then secure the lid. Let the Hops steep for 6-8 weeks. Strain off the Hops flowers and save the liquid. Use as needed.

Now for the giveaway!

Hello, I have had insomnia off and on for a few years. i have tried melatonin, valerian and other herbs which just seem to help sometimes. I have not tried hops and it really sounds as if my problem is anxiety. I do pray for peace , but sometimes I still will wake up and cannot get back to sleep. thanks for the giveaway. Blessings

Hops literally “saved my life”. I had a huge problem with brooding and I couldn’t break the cycle. It took several months, but the hops helped me sleep and stop beating myself up over ancient history!

In the evening I read fascinating things on the internet. For example right now I’m reading about hops! —— Some thoughts for Becky – It’s important not to get anxious about the insomnia when you’re trying to get to sleep; it’ll only make things worse. Since you’re a praying person I suggest you trust God for your need for sleep, and then think about something else. You can pray for others, or I heard that if you count backwards by 3 beginning with 300, you’ll fall asleep before you can finish.

There are so many things I like to do in the cold, winter evenings. Bundle up & sit on the back porch, drinking in the total silence & gazing at the stars that seem so much brighter in the winter. I love to bake oven meals that warm up the house & make it smell so good. Late evenings will find me snuggled in my recliner with a guinea pig on my lap & the dogs at my feet.

I love to read to my children. When they go to bed, I usually read a book of my choosing, unless my husband is not working late. We then get some time together and catch up on our day. I’m going to be sewing some Christmas gifts this year, so that will keep me busy too.

    Thanks for the giveaway.
